Batley's faint hopes of reaching the League One play-offs were ended by a dominant display from minor premier's Salford.
Despite already having the league leaders' shield in the bag, Salford coach Shaun McRae selected a strong side and Batley, coached by Gary Thornton simply had no answer to the home team's extra pace, power and invention.
There was only ever going
to be one winner after Salford had raced into a 12-0 lead with just ten minutes on the clock courtesy of tries by the impressive Jordan Turner and skipper Malcolm Alker.
Richard Myler and Stuart Littler also crossed for Salford in the first half and second half tries by debutante Luke Ambler, Luke Adamson Ian Sibbit and Stefan Ratchford completed the eight-try rout.
Former Leeds utility player John Gallagher made his first appearance of the season for Batley having finally recovered from a long-term injury.
Ollie Marns, Andy Boothroyd and Jon Simpson also came into the side that suffered an agonising 34-32 defeat to Halifax last time out with Kevin King, Mark Barlow, Aaron Murphy and Anthony England being the players to make way.
But second from bottom Batley went down without a whimper, rarely threatening Salford's rock solid defence despite full-back Ian Preece, winger Ben Seehan and stand-off Boothroyd all playing well.
Being 'nilled' represented an embarrassing way for Batley to finish their 2008 away fixtures.
And the Bulldogs' last game of the season at home to Leigh on Sunday, August 24, will now be a dead-rubber.
