YORKSHIRE League champions Queens kicked off the new season by plundering 18 tries against an under-strength Pontefract Social side.
Pontefract arrived at the game with only 11 players and though they put in a plucky display they could not halt a deluge of points.

Aaron Henry went in for four tries, Johnny Milner grabbed a hat-trick, Johnny Winters, Nick Staveley and Simon Wilkes all got two and other touchdowns fell to Kyle Brown, Chris Munden, Rob Wilkes, Steve Morton and debutant Omar Alrawi.

Milner kicked five goals, Henry two, Winters two and Ryan Robinson added the tenth as Queens romped to a 92-0 success.

In Unison Division One, Chris Storey scored four tries as Crofton Cougars beat Allerton 38-22.

Storey opened the scoring and Neil Lambing converted, but tries by Warren Leaf and Rob Smiley, converted by Ben Fisher, gave Allerton a 12-6 half-time lead.

Converted tries by Storey and Lambing then pushed Crofton 24-12 in front before Chris Oliver touched down for Allerton. Tries by Shaun Brierley and Storey clinched it for the home side despite a further try from Allerton's Leaf.

In Division Two, Brotherton lost 26-18 at home to Bentley Good Companions. Brotherton must have fancied their chances of making an immediate impact having dropped down from the Premier Division, but Bentley brought them back to earth.

Gary Smith, Lee Philipson and Scott Smith tries, plus a Steve Smith goal, gave Bentley a 14-6 interval lead, Chris Horton replying with a touchdown for Brotherton and Dave Lazenby adding the goal.

Dave Carter and Steve Ramsey added further Brotherton tries and Lazenby goaled both but Bentley's Scott Christian and Paul Ward scored vital tries and Smith Paul Purnell tagged on the goals to seal the points.

Sherburn Bears beat Swillington Storm 24-10 in a thrilling match.

Sherburn led 6-0 at half-time thanks to a try by Wayne Frost, converted by Steve Wood.
