Elderly man dies after Dewsbury lorry collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man died in a collision with a lorry in Dewsbury yesterday afternoon.

The collision happened at around 2.35pm on Friday 8 January in Quarry Lane at its junction with the A653 Leeds Road and involved a pedestrian aged in his 70s and a gold DAF heavy goods vehicle.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who has witnessed the collision itself or the manner of driving of the heavy goods vehicle immediately prior to this incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101.
