Walshaw bags all five in big Lees win

JAMES WALSHAW got defending Heavy Woollen Gate Premier League champions Thornhill Lees off to a flying start – going nap with all five goals in a 5-2 win at newly-promoted West End United.
United's goals came from James Parkin and James Oliver.

Rob Hiscox was the hat-trick hero for Towngate, who hammered Woodman Batley Carr 7-1, with Lee Ryan, Adam Clayton, Elliott Williams and Darren Jordan also netting.

Batley Irish Nash were
the only one of the promoted sides to win after they beat Mirfield Town 4-1, thanks to Sean Housecroft (2), Anthony Mortimer and Shaun McDaid. Danny Clapham hit a hat-trick as Old Pack Horse won 6-3 at Battyeford with Garrett Stead, Jamie McKenzie and Craig Batty also on the scoresheet.


Jimmy Heddon hit all three goals for Birkenshaw in their 3-2 win at Hartshead, while Aiden Schofield provided a treble tonic for Littletown, Andy Godding tagging on a brace in their 5-2 win against Babes in the Wood.

In Division One, James Eatherley fired a hat-trick as Overthorpe Town recorded their first win in 12 months after they beat Gomersal 6-4.
Other goals came from Neil Sykes, Jonathan Tupper and Aron Kennedy, with Andy Kay (2), Alan Doig and Danny Bentley replying.

Oakwell Motel coasted to a 6-0 win over newly promoted Batley FC thanks to Shaun Jackson (2), Craig Smith, Jamie Pollerd, Mujahid Ashraf and Majslav Karun.

Mark Hepworth hit a double for Navigation as they won 4-1 at Hightown Liberal Club. Danny Huntley and Scott Hargreaves were also on target for Nav.

Paul Smith scored two penalties as Birkenshaw Res were held to a 2-2 draw by Howden Clough, whose scorers were Joe Armitage, Gerard Burke.
Birstall St Patrick's and St John Fisher shared the points in a pulsating 4-4 draw.

Goals from John Tyrell, Craig Metcalfe, Scott Minto and Jean-Marie Julienne put St Pat's in charge, but Fisher's fought back through Chris Thornton (2), Robert Boardman and Jonathan Wright.

New Scarborough won 3-2 at Chickenley Heath thanks to strikes from Tom Wagstaff (2) and Will Clapham.

Dominic Verity scored five goals for Ravenswharfe as they beat Mirfield Parish 7-4 in Division Two. Lee Wood and Michael Smith hit the others, with Tim Hudson, Paul Egan, Ashley Gibson and Michael Thornton replying for Mirfield.

Junction Pumas got off to a flying start as Jimmy Dean hit a treble as they sank Spen Valley 5-1.

Birstall FC also started the new season well as they saw off Staincliffe WMC thanks to goals from Shane Bullers, Steve Shaw, Simon Flavin and Adrian White.

A brace from Joshua Smith and a Freddie McGillivery penalty were enough for Shoulder FC to beat Scholes Athletic 3-1. Ravensthorpe Hotel edged past Millbridge WMC 3-2, thanks to James Damon, Danny Damon and Ryan Lodge.

Top scorers in Division Three were newcomers Black Labrador, who beat Cellar FC 7-0, Andy Gardner hitting a double. The prolific Derek Lau bagged a hat-trick, supported by John Stables' brace as Punch Bowl beat Rising Sun
6-2. Wayne Rough hit both goals for Sun.

Anthony Long and Lee Merson were Belle Vue's goalscorers as they beat The Woolpack 2-1.

Dave Quinn, Simon Moffatt and Shaun Doran were AFC Chickenley's scorers as they beat Dewsbury Rangers 3-2.
