FC HALIFAX TOWN meet a win-less and managerless Harrogate Railway tomorrow but Shay boss Jim Vince fears an FA Trophy upset.
Reborn Halifax appear hot favourites at Railway who lost their manager on Monday when Dave Morgan resigned after 12 games without a victory in charge.

Former assistant Stuart Waddington takes over for tomorrow's cup tie but Vince knows all about '
new manager syndrome' and fears the worst at Station View (3pm).

"It's a horrible situation and I don't like it at all," said Vince. "When the previous manager has left, you always find that teams try that little bit harder and work a little bit harder next time – the players have all got points to prove and they all want to play.

"I think it's Stuart Waddington who has gone in as caretaker-manager and I imagine he'll have them all fired up for the match.

"I always struggle against teams who have just had a change of manager. It happened to me against Leek Town last year and against Rushden and Diamonds the year before."

Tomorrow's preliminary round tie could have thrown former Railway FA Cup hero Danny Davidson against his old club but the striker will play no part, Vince feeling the forward is struggling for match sharpness after a hernia operation.

Davidson played a big part as Rail reached the FA Cup second round last year and while this season is currently a far cry from those heroics, chairman Rob Northfield remains confident of a bright future.

"We are seven weeks into the season and it is not as though the whole world has collapsed," said Northfield.

"We are financially stable, we have a good future and we have signed a document on the ground this week which will hopefully make hundreds of thousands of pounds for the club.

"It's not all bad news. Overall the club is in a great position and it's not like we are a team with no money who is bottom of the league and struggling."

Northfield is now seeking a more experienced manager to replace Morgan who he had kind words for despite Rail's dreadful start to the season.

"Dave is a really, really good man and I would put him near the top of the list in terms of people I have met in my life in general," said Northfield.

"Now we need to do what's right and having tried with Dave we need to make sure we get a manager with more experience."

Also in FA Trophy action tomorrow are Ossett Albion, who visit Rushall Olympic.

Garforth Town have a home tie against Belper Town while Wakefield FC travel to Spalding United.
