BOSS Jim Vince's worst fears were realised as FC Halifax Town went out 2-1 at previously winless Harrogate Railway in the FA Trophy preliminary round on Saturday.
Vince feared that Rail would raise their game under caretaker boss Stuart Waddington and they did just that –- Ben Jones and Nathan Cartman sending them through.

Colin Daniel netted for Halifax.

Garforth Town also moved through with a 2-0 victo
ry at home to Belper Town – Mark Piper and Greg Kelly on the mark.

Goole AFC had a 1-1 draw at home to Nuneaton Town, Adam Lee on target for them, but Wakefield FC lost 2-1 at Spalding United despite a strike from Jay Sobers.

Ossett Albion lost 2-1 at Rushall Olympic even though Richard Beale gave them an eighth-minute lead.

In the UniBond Premier, Guiseley closed the gap on leaders Ilkeston Town to just two points with Saturday's 1-0 victory against the Derbyshire side.

Visiting Guiseley took all three points thanks to Steve Burton's second-half strike and Steve Kittrick's men still have two games in hand.

Bradford Park Avenue took the scalp of Boston United with a 2-1 away win thanks to a brace from Chris Hall while Whitby Town beat Prescot Cables 3-0 with goals from Steve Higgins, Jimmy Beadle and Sam Garvie.

Elsewhere, Frickley Athletic drew 1-1 at home to Cammell Laird – Jonathan Groone on the mark – while Ossett Town suffered a 2-1 loss at Ashton United.
