WIN the battle and then let your football do the talking.
That's the message from Farsley Celtic boss John Deacey ahead of tomorrow's trip to Redditch in Blue Square North.

Farsley's start to the season has been plagued by inconsistency and Deacey believes that's because his men are turning up and thinking they have the right to play their football.

And Deacey warned: "Redditch have picked up a bit, they have had three draws in the last three games so it is going to be tough.

"They are no mugs and they will make life difficult for us.

"We have got to go down there and battle and earn the right to play football.

"That's what we have got to learn because at the moment the players seem to think they can start playing football from the first whistle when they can't. You have got to earn the right to do that – even the best teams have to."

The Celts have shown in spells they are capable of winning back their place in the Conference at the first time of asking. They now just need to produce their best on a more regular basis to improve on their current 10th-place standing.

Deacey was delighted to see his side pick up their second win of the season when they cruised past Blyth Spartans 3-0 on Monday, but two points got away in a goalless draw at Burscough last Saturday and that followed a 3-2 home defeat to Hinckley United.

"We should have taken six points last weekend to be honest," added the manager.

"Against Burscough we should have been four or five up at half-time but we didn't finish and in the second half they were as good as us. We weren't good enough, it's as simple as that.
