It's just like watching Brazil for Celts boss Deacey

"LIKE Brazil" they were this week but boss John Deacey has cooled any Farsley Celtic title talk.
Farsley suffered an opening-day 1-0 defeat at Stafford Rangers, Deacey confessing his men were more like "Rag A@*K Rovers" than the samba men.

However, the manager was thrilled with Farsley's Tuesday night reaction when title-chasing Fleetwood Town were blown away 4-1 at Throstle Nest.

Deacey was highly impressed with what he saw but he is keeping level headed on the eve of tomorrow's home game against Hinckley United.

"I'm not the sort of manager who is going to say we are going to do this or that and I'll keep my players' feet on the ground," said Deacey.

"We've got to be positive but we've got to build on it and we can't get too excited.

"What we can say is that we are going in the right direction and playing some attractive football.

"It's been positive – on Saturday we played like Rag A@*K Rovers but we did create some chances and we could have won it really.

"Then on Tuesday night we were like Brazil. We played some really great football and passed it about superbly. It's been very positive but it's still early days."

A major drawback on Tuesday, however, was the injury to new midfielder Craig Bentham, who went to hospital with a broken foot.

Farsley will miss both Bentham and Amjad Iqbal tomorrow but Deacey has every confidence in his squad's strength in depth. He also feels three points are essential in consolidating a rare Farsley flyer.

"We'll miss those players but we've got players that can come in," said the manager.

"We've never had a good start at Farsle, not for the last five years.

"But we need that and we would be better off getting up there early doors rather than chasing the other teams after a few games.

"So far it's been a positive start but we've got to build on it and now we've got the home game with Hinckley. I've had them watched, I'll have a look at the report and I'll pick a side that can get a good result."

Meanwhile, manager Neil Aspin insists Harrogate Town will have a real good go at taking three points from title favourites and league leaders Southport tomorrow.

New-look Town have began well, following up Saturday's 2-0 home victory against Vauxhall Motors with a 0-0 draw at Workington on Tuesday night.

Tomorrow presents their first acid test but Aspin's side have pulled off big away-day wins before and Aspin sees no reason why they can't do it again.

"Every game we go into it trying to win it and we never set out for anything less than that," said Aspin.

"We've proved over the last few seasons we can go away from home and win these games and that's what we'll be looking to do.
