Guiseley will have to break down barriers

Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick believes the frustrating draw with Matlock last time out was a sign of things to come at Nethermoor, writes WENDY WALKER.
The lowly visitors dug in to grind out a 1-1 verdict in West Yorkshire on Bank Holiday Monday, and end Guiseley's 100 per cent start to the season in the UniBond League top-flight.

And Kittrick, who saw his side follow up an opening day home win o
ver Cammell Laird with victories at North Ferriby and Prescot Cables to surge to the top of the pile, expects a similar stance from Witton Albion tomorrow afternoon.

He said: "I expect them to come here and set their stall out to try and get something from the game. I think every team that comes to our place this season will do that.

"They will come here, play 4-5-1 and try and make it difficult for us to play our football.

"It is our job to learn how to break it down. I do think we have got some good footballers here who can do that, though only time will tell."

Guiseley had the chance to seal victory on Monday after Steve Burton's 58th-minute strike levelled matters shortly after they had fallen behind.

Mark Whitehouse missed a glorious chance to snatch a winner in the dying minutes, only to fail from just six yards. But Kittrick wasn't too despondent, especially as the visitors missed an even later chance to steal all three points.

"It was a bit disappointing but, as I say, you are going to get teams who set up to make it difficult for us," said Kittrick.

"We didn't play particularly well, but we had had a hard game on Saturday and I think playing Saturday, Monday on a Bank Holiday is ridiculous – though everyone is in the same boat.

"All in all I am happy enough because we are still unbeaten and we just have to keep it going now."

Kittrick is set to boost his squad ahead of tomorrow's game with the acquisition of former Hull City and Grimsby midfielder Chris Bolder from Premier Division rivals North Ferriby United.

Ferriby can do Guiseley a favour on the pitch tomorrow as they travel to an Ilkeston side who are behind Kittrick's men on goal difference only. Fifth plays sixth as Bradford Park Avenue travel to Eastwood.

Whitby are at FC United while Frickley and Ossett Town host Hednesford and Marine respectively.
