Ronnie Glavin reckons new Huddersfield Town striker Tom Denton will prove head and shoulders above League One defences – following his arrival from Wakefield FC.
The 6ft 6in beanpole striker – just 19 – joined boyhood idols Town in a six-figure deal late last week, spurning moves to Blackburn and Crystal Palace, with Leeds also reportedly interested.

And Wakefield boss Glavin says Denton, who is still grow
ing, will give plenty of sides' sleepless nights this term.

The cash will keep Wakefield on a sound financial footing for the foreseeable future, as they continue to establish themselves in the city.

Glavin, whose side make the trip to Durham City in the UniBond First Division North tonight, said: "It's important that the club survives more than anything else

"It's great and I'm absolutely delighted for the boy. He certainly offers something very, very different. Usually lads of that size win the ball, but don't attack it. But he does.

"He's as brave as a lion and if the ball is thrown into the box, he'll cause mayhem at the back post. He'll cause opposing teams lots of problems.

"He's only a young boy and has lots to learn. But he's aware of his strength, that's the big thing for me.

"No matter where he plays, the lad will always make a living, simply because of the type of player he is. He is a real impact player.

"Tom has a really great attitude as well, that's the fantastic thing about him.

"He went to Crystal Palace and Blackburn and they both bid for him. But he wanted to go to Huddersfield. His hero is Andy Booth."

Denton, whose deal will keep him at the Galpharm until 2011, said: "It's a dream come true for me. "I've been a Town fan all my life and I wanted to play here."
