LEEDS City Council's 20 leisure centres have signed up to support the National Childbirth Trust's You CAN Breastfeed Here! campaign.
Almost 50 venues have joined the campaign so far, which aims to identify restaurants, cafes, shops and other public areas in Leeds where mums are welcome to breastfeed.

The city's branch of the NCT hopes to have more than 100 venues registered before National Breastfeeding Awareness Week in May – and Leeds City Council's involvement is a big boost.

A Council spokesman said: "Although our leisure centres do not have designated breastfeeding areas, our staff will always try to ensure they make those wanting to feed their babies as comfortable and welcome as possible."

For more information or to join the campaign, email breastfeedhere@nctleeds.org or visit www.nctleeds.org.
