In reply to DS Boyes , certainly, after more than 40 years of working, I am not too happy to have to work until I am 62.5 years old and, yes, this was a policy implemented by the Labour Government , b ut I think in response to Equal Rights Legislation and the need to bring women up to the same retirement age as men (65 at the time).
However, it could be worse. Under this Coalition Government my own daughters, currently in their 30s, will have to work until they are 90, or until they drop, whichever comes first! That is , of course, if they still have job. Yes, it is set to get a whole lot worse for women (and men).
