WHEN the famous Duchess of York live music pub closed down here in the city of Leeds I was allowed to remove several items from the pub.
A lot of my mis-spent youth was used watching great bands at this pub and drinking beer and meeting great people. I miss the Duchess.
The enclosed photograph is of a very old porcelain hopper tank, which I removed from the pub and touring bands would stick their logos onto this tank.
Whilst carrying out some gardening work recently I noticed that there is a lead seal on the corner of this hopper tank which appears to be imprinted with the picture of a tiny Leeds owl.
This hopper tank appears to be over 100 years old and I was wondering if it may have been made at the Leeds pottery?
If anybody could provide any information regarding this lead seal, I would really appreciate this.
