PERFORMERS in Leeds are being given the opportunity to get involved with the grand opening of the £165m Victoria Gate scheme.
Musicians, dancers and visual performers are being urged to apply for the chance to perform in front of thousands of people at the unveiling of the development, which will be held later this year.
The opening events will last for several days and include a range of acts and exclusive performances.
James Bailey, centre manager at the Victoria Quarter, which is also owned by Victoria Gate developers Hammeron, said: “The launch of Victoria Gate is very important and exciting, not just to us, but for everyone in Leeds.”
He added: “The new arcade brings lots of designer brands to the area for the first time, as well as creating hundreds of jobs and opportunities for local Leeds people.
“Therefore, we want to ensure that the community is involved in our celebrations too.
“All performing artists, whether singers, dancers or musicians, can apply to be a part of our official opening event.
“We want the launch to be a celebration of both Victoria Gate, Victoria Quarter and Leeds’s wonderful community.”
Applicants will be shortlisted and then asked to audition.
Anyone interested in applying have until the end of July to submit their application forms.
The winners will be notified in August.
Individual performers or groups of artists can apply by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
