Budding young cricket stars have been battling it out in the West Yorkshire School Games cricket finals.

Over 100 youngsters fought for the title of West Yorkshire Champions at Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club this week.

Nigel Harrison, chief executive officer of West Yorkshire Sport. said: “The School Games gives our young athletes a chance to enjoy the excitement of a major sporting event.”

Yorkshire Cricket Club star Adil Rashid was due to attend the event on Thursday, June 26 but had to cancel, as the YEP understands his wife went into labour and later gave birth to a baby boy.
