PLANS FOR huge skyscrapers in Leeds show a growing confidence in Leeds and should be welcomed.

Such a scheme on the former British Gas site near Victoria Gate is as dramatic as it is exciting with homes and a boutique hotel among the plans.

Of course, it should go without saying that proper wind tests are made to ensure these buildings are safe. The last thing we need are more problems like those caused at the Bridgwater Place development which has already led to tragedy and the nuisance of occasional road closures in high winds.
