They say every cloud has a silver lining and today the Yorkshire Evening Post reports on two pieces of good news that have come out of catastrophe.

Firstly the incredible piece of engineering that has been going on on the River Aire for so many months. This £50m flood alleviation scheme will defend thousands of homes and businesses from the kinds of flooding seen in the city on Boxing Day two years ago.

Secondly following the shock collapse of Monarch airlines Leeds Bradford Airport has been able to announce not only that Jet2 will pick up some of the flights but that we will be getting Thomas Cook now flying out of LBA.
