YEP says: Let’s see our Grande Dame return to her former glory

Leeds Grand Theatre has seemed like a one-time famous actress now in the twightlight of her years. Still a powerful figure (a Grande Dame if you will) but somewhat jaded.

The building was showing signs of its age and its reputation was tarnished by a fraud investigation which saw the former finance boss jailed for swindling £180,000.

But now the curtain is going up on a new stage for the theatre, as it moves towards independence. It’s now ready to ride off on its own (albeit with the stabalisers still on in the form of a LCC guarantee). It’s a beautiful building and should be a jewel in our city’s crown so we’ll be cheering it from the wings.
