Waking up to rule by the richest
FOR years, generations in fact, well meaning folk from every walk of life have given money to charities like Cancer Research and must be disappointed that little progress seems to happen, cancer and other serious illnesses are still sadly with us.
Many go even further than just giving money, giving time and efforts as well. I'm pleased to include my own daughter and grand daughters among them. BUT, little will continue to happen, I'm afraid.
You see the ultra rich have put the worlds's best scientists and mathematicians to work, not to find the cures for serious illnesses, they have little interest in that, but to design computer programmes to beat financial markets, so they can become even richer.
You'll probably be even angrier, or just sadder, that the ultra-wealthy pay, in percentage terms, less income tax than the lady who gets up early to clean your local pub or offices.
Many of the ultra-rich live in Britain, threatening to leave if the government makes them pay their fair share of taxes.
They also donate large sums of money to the two major parties. The entire country is sick, my prescription is, 'a change of mind' and it won't cost a penny. Read Robert Preston's book Who Runs Britain. Who does run Britain? Well not the British or the EU either. Wake up.
