Letter: Health service to suffer from reforming zeal
THE Prime Minister, David Cameron, claims that since the last general election there are 4,000 new doctors and is trying to claim it’s because of his policy on the NHS.

It takes six to seven years to train a new doctor. They were all introduced in 2005 when Labour was in power.
At Question Time last Wednesday he could only find one GP who was happy with his new reforms. Ninety-eight per cent of all GPs, nurses and doctors want the new Bill scrapped.
The Lib Dem/Tory government are so out of touch with the real world and the people of the UK.
These reforms put the NHS in real jeopardy. I am really worried about where he is taking the service and for the future of our NHS.
Councillor Gerry Harper, Hyde Park Ward, Leeds City Council
I was surprised to read in D Birch’s letter (‘Don’t give patients’ details to drugs firms’, YEP, January 20) that charities sell on our private names and addresses and wonder how this will affect the charities. I, for one, will think twice now before giving to any.
Does D Birch know also, if you ask for a copy of any test done, it will cost £10? Whoever thought this up must have gone to sleep for a long time and doesn’t know there’s a recession going on.
Why not have to pay a fine when you miss an appointment?
I thought you weren’t allowed to take money for this, so why have to pay for test results when, after all, they are your own?
Mrs A Hepworth, Leeds 11

Monday, January 30, 2012 at 04:04 PMGerry Harper - it was labour who introduced privatisation into the NHS and all expansion of NHS privatisation is simply following on from what labour started. All 3 of these parties are vile hypocrites, and the sooner the public see through it and elect a new party (hopefully the greens in my case), the better off we will all be.
