Letter: Don’t fuel animal killers’ blook lust

COULD I please urge the YEP to stop publicising the recent sightings of dead rabbits, foxes etc hung in trees in local woodland.

All you are doing is fuelling the thirst of these animal killers. These people kill defensive creatures for fun, nothing else, and will thrive and no doubt take great pleasure in the publicity that they are being afforded as you report these ‘mysterious rituals’.

You constantly hear this rabble claiming they are helping with conservation and wildlife. I live in what can be classed as a rural area and I constantly hear stories of their great adventures as they brought down a crow or a wood pigeon.

One acquaintance of mine once told me how he killed rabbits because they were vermin. Then recently, I overheard him boasting, rather loudly, how he had shot a family of stoats near a river bank. “I killed the young ’uns,” he said, “Then I blew the heads off the mother and father.” I went up to him and asked him why he had shot these stoats.

“Because they kill the rabbits,” he answered.

These are the people we are dealing with and please don’t give them any more ammunition than they already have.
