Letter: A load of tripe!

By a strange coincidence, on the same page was some tripe by myself, in the course of which I said that Emmerdale’s cast had been joined by Robert Vaughn, who has, in fact been welcomed to the open arms of that urban myth known as Coronation Street. Of course I was mistaken, as possibly a number of people will point out. I appreciate that this totally demolishes my argument, and makes Emmerdale a totally normal kind of rural Yorkshire village. I accept that should I drop in one cold winter’s evening to the warmth of any Dales pub, I shall find the place full of people with all kinds of accents known in the English speaking world – apart, of course, from American!
