Can I please express my total opposition to the proposed Trolley bus scheme, for Leeds.
There is no way that trams or trolley buses could improve the present situation that exists for anyone travelling through Hyde Park corner or Headingley. They are both bottlenecks where the traffic is reduced to one lane. Unless you demolish enough properties along this corridor, eg Hyde park hotel onwards and the Original Oak pub etc, to allow dual carriageway, traffic will always be impeded.
Tunnelling would be prohibitively expensive, I would suggest an elevated mono-rail in either direction is the cheapest alternative, for this route.
Otherwise just update the present buses and live with the problem.The buildings are preventing any other solution.
