I look forward to a joint initiative by the two local MPs, Stuart Andrew and Greg Mulholland, neither of whom are shy of seeking publicity, to get the newly built turnback north of Horsforth station into action soon so as to improve the frequency and capacity of trains between Horsforth and the city centre.
Anywhere else of course this would be a backbone route of an electrified regional metro network but in the lamentable absence of long-term strategic planning perhaps the two local MPs, both of whose parties are in government, could bang some heads together and get some action to improve the daily commute of thousands of their electors. Perhaps...
Labour shouldn’t crow about this either – despite their claims about improving infrastructure not one metre of track in West Yorkshire was electrified during their 13-year tenure and no new rail stations were opened in Leeds.
