Healthy aggression for boys
THE letter on toy guns and airguns for Christmas (YEP, January 2) reminds me of my own childhood when all the kids on the street would run from garden to garden shooting cap guns and hiding behind garden gates pretending to be cowboys and Indians.
You don't seem to see this anymore. How sad.
We would make our own bows and arrows too and pretend to be Robin Hood.
Modern children would do well to get away from the computer and play as we did.
Children need to burn off excess energy, known today as "aggression" and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD ) and also fill the need for adventure and danger that every boy has.
Parents then drive their children to school on sedatives to keep them calm in the classroom.
Healthy children need aggressive role-play and adventure.
