Woman in cliff rescue drama

Fire and rescue crews were scrambled last night following reports of a woman stuck on cliffs in Whitby.

The incident happened at about 7.30pm yesterday, near to the Whitby Spa Pavillion.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A female was stuck about 30ft up on some cliffs. Crews from Whitby and Scarborough were mobilised and working in conjunction with members of the coastguard, brought the woman to safety using line rescue equipment.”
