Woman cut from car after Leeds smash

A woman was cut from a car by firefighters following a two-vehicle smash in Leeds this morning (Sun).

Fire crews rescued the female from the Ford Fiesta after it collided with a Mercedes C20 on Kirkstall Road.

The woman was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries.

Firefighters, police and ambulance crews were called to the incident on Kirkstall Road at around 8.53am.

Traffic and buses were diverted around the scene after the road was closed near Asda and Kirkstall Valley Primary School.

A spokesman from West Yorkshire Police said: “The female suffered serious injuries but they are not life threatening.

“The driver of the Mercedes suffered minor injuries and shock.

“At the moment officers are clearing up the scene and we hope the road will be open shortly.”
