ONE OF the country’s biggest selections of whisky which has been amassed by a Yorkshire collector is expected to sell for more than £100,000 when it is auctioned next week.

The collection is the toast of whisky lovers who will have their eyes on the Glasgow auction where the 740 bottle collection, which contains a selection of some of world’s rarest malts, is being sold.

The selection built up by the anonymous Yorkshire based collector includes six of the early bottlings of Gordon & MacPhail’s Connoisseurs Choice range, valued from £100 to £300, as well as a number of Cadenhead’s black label expressions from the 1950s and 1960s. The auction will be held at McTear’s Auctioneers next Wednesday. And the single malts include a rare Laphroaig valued at £400, a Talisker at £600, a Highland Park at £300 and a Glen Garioch at £400.
