COMIC CONVENTION

Fans of sci-fi, fantasy TV and film, comic books, Cosplay and wrestling can get involved with SmashCon at the New Dock Hall this weekend.

Celebrity guests include Red Dwarf star Norman Lovett, Brian Wheeler from Return of the Jedi and Harry Potter actor Martin Ballantyne.

MAKERS MARKET

Holy Trinity Church on Boar Lane will host a ‘makers market’ on May 21, bringing together a mix of Yorkshire designers selling handmade prints, jewellery, textiles and ceramics.

The market runs from 10am to 6pm.

Meanwhile a Blue Rinse vintage clothing kilo sale will also be held at the church from 11am to 5pm.

POP-UP BARBERS

Men in Leeds can enjoy a pamper session at a free pop-up barber’s shop.

Aveda is offering free scalp massages, hand treatments and hand massages until May 21.

From 12pm to 3pm on May 21, customers can also customise their purchases with hand-painted designs from Atelier and Repairs.

MANIC STREET PREACHERS

Rock band Manic Street Preachers are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their hit 1996 album, ‘Everything Must Go’ this month.

To mark the milestone, the band will perform a small arena tour – arriving at the Leeds arena on May 20.

The Manics will perform tracks such as ‘A Design for Life’, ‘Kevin Carter’, ‘Australia’ and ‘Everything Must Go’ and many more.

WINE AND BEER FESTIVAL

The city’s best independent pubs, bars, bottle shops and breweries will fight it out in a battle between craft beer and wine.

The Keg Vs Cork event is taking place at Duke Studios in Sheaf Street on May 20 and 21.
