FOUR men threatened a couple with a samurai sword and a garden spade after bursting into their home during a terrifying attempted robbery.

The thugs demanded cash from the 31-year-old man and woman aged 27, at their home in Hanging Heaton, Batley.

The man was injured during a struggle with the raiders and suffered cuts to his arms.

He was taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield for treatment before being discharged.

The couple’s ordeal started when four men forced their way into the house just before 11.30pm on Wednesday, April 15.

They fled empty handed in a dark coloured vehicle.

The first suspect is described as either of mixed race or Chinese ethnicity. He was around 5ft 5in to 5ft 6in tall and of average build. He had dark brown eyes, dark eyebrows and was wearing dark clothing.

The second suspect is described as being in his 20s and around the same height. He was wearing dark clothing and spoke with a local accent.

The third suspect was a similar height and build to other two men.

He also spoke with a local accent and was in his 20s.

A fourth man was also involved in the incident.

Scenes of crime officers have carried out forensic enquiries at the scene and detectives are actively trying to locate the suspects.
