Residents will be opening up their garages, gardens and driveways to sell everything from bikes to clothes, from toys to furniture and electrical items.

There will also be homemade crafts and baking on offer, along with family entertainment such as face painting, candle making and pop-up storytelling.

The event, which has been organised by Calverley Parkside and Calverley C of E primary schools, will take place from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, April 22. More than 100 individual stalls have been set up for previous spring sales in 2012, 2013 and 2015, and organisers are hoping this year will be even bigger.

Kelly Hobson, one of the event managers, said: “The Calverley garage sale really has been a fantastic event in previous years. Lots of stallholders made some very healthy profits, as did the two local schools.

“However, perhaps the best thing to come out of the day was the fantastic community spirit it unleashed.

“Local people, young and old, were out in their gardens and on the streets, talking to neighbours, earning a bit of money and having fun at the same time.

Spring is the time we all traditionally want to clean up and clear out and the beauty of this event is that it’s incredibly easy for people to take part.”

The event has received sponsorship from estate agents Hardisty and Co and local garage Calverley Autos.
