Do ewe take this ram?

AS the finishing touches for the Royal Wedding are under way ewe could forgive blushing bride Shirley for feeling slightly sheepish.

Her dress is still at the tailors and she is still struggling to find a wedding ring that fits over her hoof.

But Shirley is determined to make it up the aisle to marry her baa-rmy sweetheart Cyril.

The couple are set to share their big day with Prince William and Kate Middleton but Shirley has no shortage of adoring fans.

The plastic sheep has been a regular at The Cockpit Tea Rooms, near Otley, Leeds, for the last 18 months.

Tea Rooms manager Sue Sansbury came up with the idea to marry Shirley off to their loaned plastic sheep Cyril to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

She said: “I have always wanted Shirley to get married so we thought this could be a bit of fun while trying to raise money.

“The children all love her and the cyclists even stop to have their pictures taken with her.

“Her dress is still being made and the groom can’t see it yet but I don’t think that he has had much say in the day.

Sue, 42, will don a sheep costume for the big day to become Shirley’s best sheep and give her away.

There will be a Macmillan collection, during their nuptials at The Cockpit Team Rooms from 2pm on Friday, April 29.
