THOUSANDS of comic book fans had a superpowered time in Leeds this weekend as the city staged its annual Thought Bubble festival.
Now in its 11th year, the seven-day celebration of comic art climaxed with a convention event that took place on Saturday and Sunday.
Around 10,000 people from all over the world flocked to its marquees in Millennium Square, Cookridge Street and in front of Leeds Town Hall. Attractions included a panel event with Gerard Way, the former singer with My Chemical Romance and now the curator of the Young Animal line of comics.
Festival manager Martha Julian told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “It has gone better than we ever could have imagined. The city has been thronged with people in colourful costumes, laughing and singing – the atmosphere has been amazing.”
