Wakefield: Thieves rob man, 77, in his own home

Robbers forced their way into an elderly man's home to steal cash from his wallet.

The thieves struck at a house in Portobello area of Wakefield last week.

The incident took place on Wednesday January 5 at around 6.30pm, when the elderly victim was at his home on Rutland Avenue.

Two men called at the 77-year-old's house and when the door was opened they pushed him to the floor. He suffered a minor injury to his arm.

His pockets were then searched and an amount of cash taken from his wallet.

The first of the robbers is described as a white man, 20 years old, 6ft

tall, slim build with a slim face. He was wearing a black hooded top and a brown woolly type hat. He had a local accent.

The second was a white man, 18-20 years old, 5ft 9-10ins tall, medium build, and was wearing dark clothing. He had a local accent.
