BUMPER crowds are expected at this weekend’s annual Food, Drink and Rhubarb Festival in Wakefield.

Preparations are underway for the three-day festival, which last year attracted more than 125,000 visitors.

It will feature cookery demonstrations from celebrity chefs Brian Turner and Rachel Green along with Great British Bake off finalist Luis Troyano,

Coun Les Shaw of Wakefield Council, said: “There is a real excitement building for the festival which is now only a few days away.

“Make sure you don’t miss out on activities taking place from exclusive cookery demonstrations to some great street entertainment – and of course the chance to buy unique rhubarb flavoured foods from over 40 different stalls including, sausages, pizzas and pies.”

Entertainment for youngsters will include a food themed sing-a-long show with interactive games hosted by Cbeebies presenter Katy Ashworth.

The festival will run from 10am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
