Wakefield horse rider died after fall

A TEACHER from Wakefield died in hospital three weeks after falling off her horse while riding with friends, an inquest opening heard.

Wakefield Coroner’s Court heard Jayne Louise Goodwin, 44, of Canal Lane Lofthouse, Wakefield, was admitted to Leeds General Infirmary after the fall on January 9.

The inquest opening heard the fall was not witnessed as she was the last rider through a gate and was in the process of closing it when the incident happened.

She was unconscious when paramedics arrived at the scene. The inquest opening was told her ventilated life support was switched off on January 29. The inquest was adjourned pending further enquiries.
