Civic leaders in Leeds have praised the city's Victoria Gate shopping centre after it scooped a prestigious international award tonight (Thursday).
The £165m development, in the city centre, was named Best Shopping Centre in the world at the MIPIM Awards 2017 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.
Coun Richard Lewis, executive member for regeneration, transport and planning, said: “I’m obviously very pleased. It’s a well deserved award but it reinforces the position of Leeds in terms of building design and innovation.
“It’s also good news in that it will attract more interest in the city, and more customers, to further boost the success of Victoria Gate and the rest of the city centre.”
