leeds’ very own Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussein made a welcome return to the city yesterday in a cooking demonstration at the Merrion Centre.
Nadiya, who moved from Leeds to Milton Keynes last month, showed off some of the many skills - and facial expressions - that made her champion of the popular BBC1 series.
The mum of three was pleased to be back in the city to meet fans who had supported her as she gradually won over judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
She said: “I’ve lived in Leeds for the last 10 years and it’s an honour to host my own bakery session in a familiar venue.
“Winning the Bake Off means I’ve been travelling lots and had some great opportunities, but despite this, being back in Leeds, in recognisable surroundings, is really comforting.”
