A burglary victim was attacked when he confronted a thief who was breaking into his shed.

The 51-year-old was assaulted after he tried to stop the man stealing from the shed of his garden on Manor Haigh Road in Lupset, Wakefield, in the early hours of Saturday.

He suffered facial, shoulder and abdomen injuries before the burglar jumped over a fence and escaped through a neighbour’s garden.

The burglar was white, slim and more than 6ft tall and was wearing a black balaclava, grey hooded top and white trainers.
