Van driver airlifted to hospital after two-car smash

A van driver was airlifted to hospital after a two-car smash in Wakefield.

The incident happened at 11.40am yesterday (Monday) when a white Mercedes Sprinter van and red Honda Jazz car collided on Notton Lane.

Police said the collision, at the junction with Chevet Lane and Bleakley Lane in Notton, Wakefield, left the 25-year-old van driver with "serious injuries"

He was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.

And West Yorkshire Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: "The driver of the van, a 25 year old man, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. 

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any information which may help the investigation, is asked to contact PC Mark Curtis at SRANS East via 101."
