TV celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo has announced plans to expand his restaurant empire and Leeds is next.
He will be opening ‘Gino D’Acampo - My Restaurant’ in the city centre later this year following successful openings of the chain already in Manchester’s Corn Exchange and London’s Euston Station.
The new 150 cover restaurant will be on Park Row, in the former Piccolino restaurant, opposite Jamie’s Italian.
Piccolino is going to be moving to new larger premises in the city.
The two-storey restaurant will boast an open kitchen, lower ground cocktail and wine bar and an eat-at deli bar.
The design and decor is going to have a true Mediterranean feel, with the use of white marble, washed woods and trademark green leather reflecting Gino’s passion for his homeland of Southern Italy.
He will also be using contacts in his native Italy to source authentic Italian ingredients and flavours.
The day-to-evening menu will be packed full of favourites from Gino’s books and TV programmes which already prove so popular with foodies.
Gino D’Acampo said: “After months of planning for the opening, I can’t wait to welcome guests to My Restaurant, Leeds.
“Every effort has been made to make sure our guests have a true Italian experience – we’ve got some great dishes for you to try. I’m looking forward to treating Yorkshire to a real taste of Italy.”
He is working with Individual Restaurants which operates 36 and rising, restaurants in central London, other major UK cities.
