A group of travellers who set up home on the site of a well known Leeds home furnishings store have moved on.

Around a dozen caravans pitched up on the car park of the Dunelm store on Spence Lane, off Whitehall Road, in Holbeck on Tuesday morning.

But by late this afternoon they had left the site.

A spokeswoman for Dunelm said: “The store car park has now been cleared of caravans. Our maintenance team is now working to clean up the car park as a matter of urgency.

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience during this disruption.”

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “We have been working with the landowner and the council to seek an eviction.”
