Police want to speak to witnesses to a crash in Leeds that killed an elderly man.

The 75-year-old was driving a grey VW Polo that was involved in a collision with a white Mercedes drop-side lorry on the A64 York Road, near to the junction of Scholes Lane, at about 3.15pm last Thursday.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with his passenger, a 72-year-old woman, where he later died. The woman also suffered serious injuries.

Detective Sergeant Carole Greaves, of the major collision enquiry team (MCET), said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area last Thursday afternoon and saw either vehicle in the time leading up to the collision, or anyone who witnessed the collision itself to come forward. Enquiries are ongoing."

Call MCET via 101, quoting log number 0991 of November 5.
