A tractor driver from Castleford has been arrested on suspicion of causing a pensioner’s death by dangerous driving.

The 33-year-old was held following a collision between a red tractor and a yellow Fiat Panda in North Yorkshire.

The incident happened on the B6265 at Great Ouseburn just before 6pm on Thursday.

A man in his 70s who was driving the Fiat died at the scene. A female passenger, also aged in her 70s and from Boroughbridge, was not badly hurt.

Police have released the arrested man on bail pending further enquiries and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
