Commuters have complained about a ‘rank’ smell affecting Leeds Station.

Twitter user @Lammypammy contacted station managers Network Rail asking if a train had emptied its toilets on the tracks after smelling the sewage-like odour yesterday.

The smell was an issue for rail passengers throughout the day, but Network Rail’s Leeds team have now explained that the problem was caused by a fault in the plumbing at the station’s branch of Starbucks.

On Friday morning they confirmed the issue had been resolved.

The temporary traffic lights are expected to be in place for one week.
