M621 closed in both directions due to ongoing police incident

The M621 was closed in both directions after a police incident.

It was first reported to The AA at 7.45am on Wednesday, May 11.

In an update, The AA said: "All lanes stopped and stationary traffic due to police incident on M621 both ways from J3 Meadow Road (City Centre) to J5 Tunstall Road."

Connecting Leeds Travel, which provides updates on behalf of the council, added that delays should be expected.

It said: "Police incident has resulted in the closure of the M621 motorway in both directions between Junction 3 (A653) and Junction 5 (Tunstall Road).

"Delays expected."

Highways England said: "The M621 anti-clockwise J7 (Stourton) to J4 (Hunslet) is currently CLOSED due to a Police incident.

"If planning travel, avoid the area."

Highways England later confirmed at 9.45am that the M621 had reopened.

It said: "***UPDATE*** The incident closing the #M621 #J7 (#Stourton) to #J4 (#Hunslet) in both directions has resolved and the road is now open."
