The 45-year-old pedestrian suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries when he was involved in a collision with a small silver people-carrier in Wood Lane, Rothwell, on Saturday night.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital following the incident at about 9pm.

West Yorkshire Police said the driver initially stopped but then left the scene before officers arrived.

The road was subsequently closed between Pasture View and Church Street while investigations were carried out.

A spokesman said: “Officers are keen to speak to the driver of the vehicle involved – described as a silver small people carrier-type vehicle – and anyone else who witnessed the collision.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
