Bus passengers injured in crash with car in Leeds city centre

Eight bus passengers have reportedly been injured in a crash between a double decker and a car in Leeds city centre.

The number 402 Arriva service, bound for the central bus station, was involved in a collision with a car on York Street shortly after 10.30am.

Ambulances and police were called to the scene, which left the road blocked.

The driver of the car was not thought to be seriously injured.

Nigel Featham, regional managing director for Arriva Yorkshire, said: “We can confirm that this morning an Arriva bus was involved in an incident on New York Street, Leeds. The bus was operating on the 402 service. We are currently working closely with the police to understand exactly what happened.”
