BMW driver arrested as biker fights for life after Wakefield crash

A man has been arrested after a biker was left fighting for life following a crash in Wakefield.

The 37-year-old was on a Honda motorcycle that collided with a BMW on Doncaster Road, Crofton, near the Oakenshaw North Junction, at about 1.09pm.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he was in a critical condition on Tuesday evening.

The 29-year-old BMW driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

The road was closed to traffic while investigation work was carried out at the scene.

PC Dave Robson of the safer roads and neighbourhood support team, said: “Enquiries are ongoing this evening into what was a very serious incident on the district’s roads. We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the behaviour of either vehicle before it took place.”
