Accident closes main Leeds ring road; M62 shut into Yorkshire

The main Leeds ring road is closed after an accident involving two vehicles, and in a separate incident the M62 is closed on the Yorkshire-bound carriageway.

In Leeds, the A6120 West Yorkshire - A6120 Ring Road (Moortown) in Leeds is shut with traffic queuing in both directions between the Roundhay Park Lane junction and the Shadwell Lane junction.

Traffic is being diverted onto Shadwell Lane.

On the M62 there are severe delays heading into Yorkshire after an accident involving a lorry closed the eastbound carriageway between junctions 21 and 22, near the county border.

There are severe delays as recovery work continues.

A diversion via the Ripponden road was in operation but drivers are being advised to avoid the area.

Update: Both incidents had been cleared in time for the evening peak.
